Great supra-regional interest in the future topic "fourth treatment stage": successful HUBER Wastewater Symposium

24.03.2022
On Wednesday, 23 March, HUBER SE hosted the first symposium "Advanced Wastewater Treatment for the Removal of Micropollutants" in Grevenmacher (Luxembourg).

Future topic: The demonstration plant at the Grevenmacher WWTP consists of a HUBER Pile Cloth Media Filter RotaFilt®, ozonation and activated carbon adsorption.

Complete success: The HUBER Wastewater Symposium was very well attended so that it is planned to repeat it in the summer months.

Pure water: The director of the Luxembourg wastewater syndicate SIDEST, Jean-Marie Ries (right), presents the purified wastewater.

HUBER organised the symposium together with the Luxembourg wastewater syndicate SIDEST, the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA) and the company ProMinent. Numerous planners, operators and decision-makers from Luxembourg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg received a well-founded overview of the processes and technologies that will be used in the so-called "fourth treatment stage" in the future.

Technologies, synergies, practical examples: diverse presentations on advanced wastewater treatment

During the practice-oriented lecture blocks in the morning, Christian Frommann (Head of Technology Center HUBER SE) and Thomas Netter (Product Manager Filtration HUBER SE) explained various aspects of the future topic of advanced wastewater treatment after a general company presentation by Torben Schultze (Head of Sales D-A-L HUBER SE). While Thomas Netter presented the different technologies for advanced wastewater treatment as well as synergies, customer benefits and practical examples, Christian Frommann focused in his presentation on the topic of "Innovative microfiltration with pile fabric" and explained the advantages of the new HUBER Pile Cloth Media Filter RotaFilt®.

HUBER demonstration plant at the Grevenmacher WWTP

In the afternoon, visitors had the opportunity to see the demonstration plant at the Grevenmacher WWTP for themselves. The plant consists of a HUBER Pile Cloth Media Filter RotaFilt®, ozonation and activated carbon adsorption. With the plant, HUBER, ProMinent and SIDEST want to investigate for the first time by the end of 2022 what performance can be achieved with regard to the elimination of trace substances before discharge into the Moselle.

Second wastewater symposium planned for summer 2022

The symposium, which was limited to 90 participants due to the coronavirus, was quickly fully booked, so that a repeat event is already planned for the summer months.
